AFCI and GFCI Breakers

Breakers that shut off power when they detect dangerous arcing or ground faults.

Whole-Home Re-Devicing

IS IT TIME?

Signs you need an electrical panel upgrade

Breakers trip often

Your panel is telling you it is overloaded or worn out.

Old or recalled panels

Federal Pacific, Zinsco and some older brands have known safety problems.

No room for new circuits

Every slot is full and you want to add something new.

Adding a big load

A generator, EV charger, hot tub, heat pump or remodel is coming soon.

Warm panel or buzzing

Heat, burning smells or buzzing mean call us today. Don't open the panel yourself.

Selling or buying a home

Inspectors and insurers often flag older panels.

Like a Celtic knot, every connection matters

There are no hard rules on age. But at 25 to 35 years or more, outlets, switches and older devices start failing more often, and a problem on one side of the home can show up on the other. So we look at the whole system, not just the panel. Why put new equipment on an old system?

PRICING

What affects panel upgrade cost

We don't guess over the phone. You get an exact written price before work starts. What moves it:

The panel you choose

A standard replacement, a Future-Ready Panel or a SPAN smart panel.

What you plan to add

An EV charger, hot tub or generator can change the size and layout we plan for.

Where things sit

The location of your panel and meter, and whether either needs to move.

The rest of the system

Grounding, older wiring and worn devices we find at the walkthrough.

LOCAL NOTES

Permits and panel upgrades in El Paso County

Permits, in plain words

A panel upgrade needs a permit and an inspection. We pull the permit with whichever office covers the job, whether that's the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, Douglas County, Teller County or the State of Colorado, and schedule the inspection. All you do is let the inspector in.

Older homes and newer homes

Older homes in central Colorado Springs and Broadmoor often have panels never sized for modern life. Newer homes in Flying Horse and Briargate fill up fast with finished basements, EV chargers and hot tubs.

Pikes Peak weather

Spring and summer storms bring lightning and outages. If you're thinking about a generator or surge protection, plan for it now so your new panel is ready.

Smoke and CO Detectors

Your power is already off, so it is a good time for new interconnected alarms installed to code.

FAQ

Panel upgrade questions

Don't see yours? Call us at 719-659-4715 and talk to someone who actually knows electrical.

How much does a panel upgrade cost in Colorado Springs?+

It depends on your home, the panel you choose and what you want it ready for. After a free walkthrough you get written options, so you know the exact price before any work starts.

Is the panel walkthrough free?+

Yes. Walkthroughs for upgrades and new projects are always free. If something isn't working, needs a repair or needs an inspection, that's a diagnostic visit.

How long does a panel upgrade take?+

Your power is off for one work day while we swap the panel. We come back the next day for a couple of hours to finish up, with minimal disruption to your power.

Do I need a permit for a panel upgrade?+

Yes. We pull the permit with whichever office covers the job, whether that's the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, Douglas County, Teller County or the State of Colorado, and schedule the inspection. Someone just needs to be home to let the inspector in.

Will my power be off?+

Yes, for one work day. We coordinate the power-down with the utility and confirm the timing with you ahead of time.

Why does Colorado 811 paint my yard?+

After you book, Colorado 811 marks underground utilities near the work area so everyone knows where the lines run. It's a normal, required step and we request it for you.

Can you make my panel ready for a generator or EV charger?+

Yes. Our Best and Better options are planned around what you will add next, so you will not need another upgrade later.

What is a SPAN smart panel?+

A SPAN panel lets you see and control every circuit from your phone, and it works with generators, batteries and EV chargers. We are a SPAN installer.

How old is too old for an electrical panel?+

There are no hard rules. Once a system reaches 25 to 35 years or more, we look at the whole system, not just the panel, because older devices start failing more often. Why put new equipment on an old system?

How accurate is the online panel check?+

It's a rough estimate based on a simplified version of the load calculation electricians use for existing homes. A licensed electrician confirms your real numbers on a free walkthrough. You never need to open your panel to use it.

Do you do panel upgrades outside Colorado Springs?+

Yes. We work across El Paso County and nearby, including Monument, Woodmoor, Black Forest, Falcon, Fountain and Woodland Park.
